mikehill4jesus Who are these Followers of the Devil

Sunday 23rd September 2018 mikehill4jesus “Who are these Followers of the Devil”

www.disciples-of-jesus.com

Who are these Followers of the Devil who seek to stop people finding out the truth about Jesus and so be reconciled with God?
The person who is as described by Jesus in John 14:24. ‘Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.’ For they have nothing to do with the Lord Jesus Christ. They will tell you differently because they are ignorant or a liar and deceiver.

The Fall of Man

By the disobedience of Adam.
Genesis 3:6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realised they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. 8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?” 10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.” 11 And he said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” 12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me–she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”

with

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned–13 for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come. 15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many! 16 Again, the gift of God is not like the result of the one man’s sin: The judgement followed one sin and brought condemnation, but the gift followed many trespasses and brought justification. 17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ. 18 Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous.

Through temptation of the devil.
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, `You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, `You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.'” 4 “You will not surely die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

2 Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

1 Timothy 2:14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.

Man in consequence of.

Made in the image of Adam.
Genesis 5:3 When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth.

with

1 Corinthians 15:48 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49 And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven.

Born in sin.
Job 25:4 How then can a man be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure?

Psalms 51:5 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

Isaiah 48:8 You have neither heard nor understood; from of old your ear has not been open. Well do I know how treacherous you are; you were called a rebel from birth.

John 3:6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

A child of the devil.
Matthew 13:38 The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the sons of the kingdom. The weeds are the sons of the evil one,

John 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

1 John 3:8 He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. 10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.

A child of wrath.
Ephesians 2:3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.

Evil in heart.
Genesis 6:5 The LORD saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.

Genesis 8:21 The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: “Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.

Jeremiah 16:12 But you have behaved more wickedly than your fathers. See how each of you is following the stubbornness of his evil heart instead of obeying me.

Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

Blinded in heart.
Ephesians 4:18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.

Corrupt and perverse in his ways.
Genesis 6:12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways.

Psalms 10:5 His ways are always prosperous; he is haughty and your laws are far from him; he sneers at all his enemies.

Romans 3:12 All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.” 13 “Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.” “The poison of vipers is on their lips.” 14 “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.” 15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 ruin and misery mark their ways, 17 and the way of peace they do not know.” 18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

Depraved in mind.
Romans 8:5 Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; 7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.

Ephesians 4:17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

Colossians 1:21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour.

Titus 1:15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Without understanding.
Psalms 14:2 The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. 3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

with

Romans 3:11 there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.

Romans 1:31 they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless.

Receives not the things of God.
1 Corinthians 2:14 The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Comes short of God’s glory.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

Defiled in conscience.
Titus 1:15 To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

Hebrews 10:22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

Intractable.
Job 11:12 But a witless man can no more become wise than a wild donkey’s colt can be born a man.

Estranged from God.
Genesis 3:8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

Psalms 58:3 Even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward and speak lies.

Ephesians 4:18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.

Colossians 1:21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behaviour.

In bondage to sin.
Romans 6:19 I put this in human terms because you are weak in your natural selves. Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness.

Romans 7:5 For when we were controlled by the sinful nature, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies, so that we bore fruit for death.

Romans 7:23 but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members.

Galatians 5:17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.

Titus 3:3 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.

In bondage to the devil.
2 Timothy 2:26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.

Hebrews 2:14 Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death–that is, the devil– 15 and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.

Constant in evil.
Psalms 10:5 His ways are always prosperous; he is haughty and your laws are far from him; he sneers at all his enemies.

2 Peter 2:14 With eyes full of adultery, they never stop sinning; they seduce the unstable; they are experts in greed–an accursed brood!

Conscious of guilt.
Genesis 3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realised they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. 8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the LORD God called to the man, “Where are you?” 10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”

Unrighteous.
Ecclesiastes 7:20 There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins.

Romans 3:10 As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one;

Abominable.
Job 15:16 how much less man, who is vile and corrupt, who drinks up evil like water!

Psalms 14:3 All have turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.

Turned to his own way.
Isaiah 53:6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Loves darkness.
John 3:19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

Corrupt in speech.
Romans 3:13 “Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.” “The poison of vipers is on their lips.” 14 “Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”

Destructive.
Romans 3:15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 ruin and misery mark their ways,

Devoid of the fear of God.
Romans 3:18 “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

Totally depraved.
Genesis 6:5 The LORD saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.

Romans 7:18 I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

Dead in sin.
Ephesians 2:1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,

Colossians 2:13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,

All people partake of the effects of.
1 Kings 8:46 “When they sin against you–for there is no one who does not sin–and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive to his own land, far away or near;

Galatians 3:22 But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.

1 John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

1 John 5:19 We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.

Punishment consequence upon.

Banishment from paradise.
Genesis 3:24 After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

Condemnation to labour and sorrow.
Genesis 3:16 To the woman he said, “I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.” 17 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, `You must not eat of it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life. 18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”

Job 5:6 For hardship does not spring from the soil, nor does trouble sprout from the ground. 7 Yet man is born to trouble as surely as sparks fly upward.

Temporal death.
Genesis 3:19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned–

1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

Eternal death.
Job 21:30 that the evil man is spared from the day of calamity, that he is delivered from the day of wrath?

Romans 5:18 Consequently, just as the result of one trespass was condemnation for all men, so also the result of one act of righteousness was justification that brings life for all men. 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. 20 The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Cannot be remedied by any person.
Proverbs 20:9 Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin”?

Jeremiah 2:22 Although you wash yourself with soda and use an abundance of soap, the stain of your guilt is still before me,” declares the Sovereign LORD.

Jeremiah 13:23 Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots? Neither can you do good who are accustomed to doing evil.

Remedy for, provided by God.
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”

WHO WILL YOU BE A FOLLOWER OFF WHEN YOU STAND BEFORE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST?

The Devil and His Followers will tell you it is OK to do evil

Sunday 16th September 2018 mikehill4jesus “The Devil and His Followers will tell you it is OK to do evil”

Who are these Followers of the Devil
The person who is as described by Jesus in John 14:24. ‘Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.’ For they have nothing to do with the Lord Jesus Christ. They will tell you differently because they are ignorant or a liar and deceiver.

The Wheat, John 14:23, and the Weeds, John 14:24, in what is called Christianity

The Lord spoke clearly about the fate of False Christians

Matthew 13:24-30 New International Version – UK (NIVUK)

The parable of the weeds

24 Jesus told them another parable: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. 25 But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. 26 When the wheat sprouted and formed ears, then the weeds also appeared.

27 ‘The owner’s servants came to him and said, “Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?”

28 ‘“An enemy did this,” he replied.

‘The servants asked him, “Do you want us to go and pull them up?”

29 ‘“No,” he answered, “because while you are pulling up the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: first collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.”’

A Disciples power to overcome Satan comes not from himself, but from the Holy Spirit of God

James 4:7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (NIV)

In the New Testament the Angel Michael leads God’s armies against Satan’s forces in the Book of Revelation, where during the war in heaven he defeats Satan. In the Epistle of Jude Michael is specifically referred to as an “archangel”. Christian sanctuaries to Michael appeared in the 4th century, when he was first seen as a healing angel, and then over time as a protector and the leader of the army of God against the forces of evil.

Without those true Disciples of the Lord Jesus, John 14:23, you or your Christian Organisation will not win the Spiritual battle you face.

If you are not able to prove that you are living in union with Jesus, then you are not saved from the Devil

True Discipleship is living in Union with Jesus!

Much of the Christianity that I have experienced does not show this Union with Jesus at all.

True Discipleship is an exciting and fulfilling experience. A consciousness, where personal communication or exchange between a divine God in three persons and a created human being is the secret of the whole of it.
John 14:23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. (NIV bible)

Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me. (NIV bible)

When you study the Holy Bible over a period of time you will see with great clarity that it describes those who are right with the Lord Jesus Christ, as having a living relationship with Him, His Father, the Holy Spirit, and each other.

Jesus has to come first in everything

Sunday 9th September 2018 mikehill4jesus “Jesus has to come first in everything”

www.disciples-of-jesus.com

Witnessing for Jesus
John 14:23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”
True Disciples of Jesus have both Him, and his Father, living in them today. It has always been like that! His loving disciples are living proof that He is alive today. That is why they are hated so much, yet always respond with love and true teaching that may help their persecutors.

This “Union” with God cannot take place when the person is as described by Jesus in John 14:24. ‘Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.’ For God has nothing to do with those who refuse to love and obey His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Anyone who tells you differently, is ignorant or a liar and deceiver.

The Saving Gospel of Jesus Christ

It has to be learnt and then put into practice. The Holy Spirit can teach the Saved person who loves Jesus even though they still do evil. Perfection in behaviour takes time if the sinner truly loves Jesus. Just as it does with a child who is adopted out of a Sinful family who did not teach them what is Holy and Righteous.

The Apostle Paul taught Christians in Romans 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.

One of the great questions that Christless People ask, even if they call themselves Christian or Believers in Jesus, is this, “Who are You?”

They do not know who:

  • God is
  • Jesus is
  • Christians are
  • the main Characters that are described in the Holy Bible

John 1:19-28 New International Version – UK (NIVUK)

John the Baptist denies being the Messiah

19 Now this was John’s testimony when the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was. 20 He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, ‘I am not the Messiah.’

21 They asked him, ‘Then who are you? Are you Elijah?’

He said, ‘I am not.’

‘Are you the Prophet?’

He answered, ‘No.’

22 Finally they said, ‘Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?’

23 John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, ‘I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, “Make straight the way for the Lord.”’

24 Now the Pharisees who had been sent 25 questioned him, ‘Why then do you baptise if you are not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?’

26 ‘I baptise with water,’ John replied, ‘but among you stands one you do not know. 27 He is the one who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.’

28 This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan, where John was baptising.

THESE WERE GOD’S CHOSEN PEOPLE AND YET DID NOT KNOW WHO JOHN THE BAPTIST WAS?????

John 8:25-27 New International Version – UK (NIVUK)

The Jewish leaders did not know who Jesus was

25 ‘Who are you?’ they asked.

‘Just what I have been telling you from the beginning,’ Jesus replied. 26 ‘I have much to say in judgment of you. But he who sent me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from him I tell the world.’

27 They did not understand that he was telling them about his Father.

CLEARLY, MANY JEWISH LEADERS DID NOT KNOW WHO JESUS WAS?????

It is the same today. People, who do not know who Jesus is, being called God’s Ordained Leaders?????

This webpage describes those people who do know and don’t have to ask, “Who are You?

This webpage describes those people who do NOT know and have to ask, “Who are You?

Witnessing for Jesus
John 14:23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”
True Disciples of Jesus have both Him, and his Father, living in them today. It has always been like that! His loving disciples are living proof that He is alive today. That is why they are hated so much, yet always respond with love and true teaching that may help their persecutors.

Anyone can simply quote what the Holy Bible says about the Lord Jesus. Only a Christian, John 14:23, can show proof of His existence!

The Doctrine, Jesus the Saviour

True and False Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ
The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 ‘Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?” 23 Then I will tell them plainly, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!”

The be a true Disciple, the Lord Jesus must know you! [See John 14:23-24 at the top of this webpage]

That means you must have fulfilled the demands of His Perfect Gospel and have him and his father come and make their home with you!

You will never love and obey Him, if you don’t know who he is!

Many Lost Souls seek to enter Heaven through the religion called Christianity. But fail as they fall in love with their Church and it’s Leaders!

This webpage is to help you learn who the Lord Jesus is, that you may choose to love Him and learn what His Gospel requires of you!

The narrow and wide gates
The Lord Jesus said in Matthew 7:13 ‘Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

You will not find the small gate and narrow road to Heaven if you don’t learn who the Lord Jesus is!

John, knew Jesus was Alive.

Jesus, the Lord of Judgement.
In Revelation, we read of the Lord Jesus appearing to John the apostle [may not be the same John who wrote his Gospel] while in exile in Patmos and giving him a book of judgement, that is, as the method and government of God. It reveals the consummation of the world’s history, and gives a panorama of God’s final dealings with the earth. It opens with a distinct and three-fold blessing pronounced a blessing first, upon those who read, secondly, upon those who hear, thirdly, upon those who keep the things that are written therein. The church has no right to neglect her Master’s last message.

Jesus, the Lord of All.
God is revealed as supreme in the government of the universe, the Spirit as the light and activity of that government, and Jesus as the faithful Witness, and as ruling the kings of the earth.

The outlook of Revelation is larger than the Church of Christ. It deals, not with the relation of God as father to the company of saved in the church, but to His larger relation as King and Governor of the whole earth.

There has been a great deal of cloudy thinking and teaching on these subjects. Many seem to imagine that the Church and the Kingdom of God is the same thing. The fact is that the Kingdom of God is infinitely larger than the Church, and includes that whole realm over which God is King, and in which that Kingship will finally be established.

Today the true Church recognises and submits to that Kingship. The time will come when all nations shall recognise and submit. The true Church is an instrument to that end. Yet she is a complete entity within herself, having her specific vocation in future ages.

Jesus, Warns about the Danger of Being Lukewarm.
Revelation 1:17-18 “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”

Let His words to the Church of Laodicea be a warning to us, not to cheapen His grace and patience. May our response to His appearances, exhortations, warnings, teachings, commands and promises be right. For as Right People, right with Him and right with each other, we will be united by the true Holy Spirit with confidence in His power and Christ’s reward to all whom overcome sin. Do not be lukewarm but let His words to the Church of Laodicea be a warning to us, not to cheapen His grace and patience.

May our response to His appearances, exhortations, warnings, teachings, commands and promises be right. For as Right People, right with Him and right with each other, we will be united by the true Holy Spirit with confidence in His power and Christ’s reward to all whom overcome.

Jesus, Both Lord and Victor.
Though the teaching in Revelation has not been perfectly understood, especially by this writer, its great principles are evident. It shows the final overthrow of evil and the setting up of the eternal kingdom of God. It moreover teaches us that that overthrow and that setting up will be realised through the Lord Jesus, the anointed King. Whom the Holy Bible and experience proves, beyond all reasonable doubt, is alive and in control.

Jesus, a Perfect Lord.
In His letters to the seven Churches, we see four distinct matters: Christ’s titles, commendation, complaint, counsel. These were not always given in this exact order, for in some cases either commendation or complaint is omitted.

Jesus, A Powerful Light.
A most important principle to be perpetually borne in mind by those who would fulfil the highest function within the body of Christ [not religious Church] is that the world waits for light. The body’s only capacity for shedding light is that it should live in the day, which the face of Christ creates for it. No group and no individual member of the body, can fling across the darkness one ray or gleam of light save as that group or that person lives in the sunshine created by the shining of His face.

That light was eclipsed in the darkness of Calvary’s Cross, but from behind the dense cloud, it broke again to shine upon all those who receive life by the way of that Cross, and through them to flash upon the night of the world.

Jesus, An Honest Lord.
Let us hear today all He has to say. What He says to us shall be the truth, and we will know it. If He has praise for us, that shall be our main reward. If He speaks words of complaint, heeding them, let us find our way to true and deep repentance. Let us listen principally for His words of counsel, and hearing them without reserve let us yield to Him our quick obedience. If He gives us His word; His promise, this we know, that what He wills is best, so to His chastisements we render ourselves that we may find His great reward.

Paul New Jesus Was Alive

Who is the Lord?
Paul tells us that to him the title “Lord” was extremely important. In the New Testament the title is used 581 times. Paul uses it 253 times. It is used 5911 times by the Old Testament writers. When Paul referred to the facts of the Gospel history he speaks in Acts 20:35 of what the “Lord” Jesus said and in 1 Cor 11:23 did and in 1 Thes 2:15; 5:9, 10 suffered. In 1 Thes 2:19 it is our “Lord” Jesus who is coming, etc. In prayer also the title is given 1 Thes 3:11; Eph 1:3. The sinner is invited to believe on the “Lord” Jesus Acts 16:31; 20:21. In addition, the converted are to look to the “Lord” Jesus for deliverance Rom 7:24, 25. Moreover, in the few exceptional cases in which the personal Name stands alone a reason is always discernible in the immediate context.

The title “Lord”, as given to the Saviour, in its full significance rests upon the resurrection Acts 2:36; Romans 10:9; 14:9, and is realised only in the Holy Spirit 1 Cor 12:3.

Jesus, a Living Lord.
The word resurrection occurs 40 times. The Holy Bible in both the Old and the New Testament is full of examples where the Lord Jesus had a relationship with some of God’s created people. Not once did any Spiritual Leader speak of the Lord Jesus as if he was a religious theory, a superstitious God of legend, up there somewhere to be cried out to or praised. Indeed, the Lord himself commanded that anyone wanting salvation had to have this living relationship. Acts 1:3a; Mark 16:9; Matthew 28:9; Luke 24:15; Luke 24:36; 1 Corinthians 15:5; John 20:19; John 20:26; John 21:1; 1 Corinthians 15:6; Matthew 28:17; 1 Corinthians 15:7; Luke 24:50; Acts 9:5-6; Acts 26:14-18; Acts 18:9-10; Acts 22:17-21; Acts 23:11; Acts 26:19-23.

Jesus, a Lord of Action.
The apostle Paul knew that Jesus was alive, for when he was hard pressed the Lord Jesus would personally intervene in his life Acts 23:11. If Jesus is not alive and able to show himself to us, then this verse is a lie.

Like us who are already saved, Paul was a sinner saved by grace Acts 9:3-6; 26:13-18. He was heading towards Damascus in pursuit of ardent Disciples of Christ, with the intent of doing them great harm. At this time, despite his great theological scriptural knowledge, he did not know the Lord Jesus Christ was alive. Suddenly Jesus appeared to him, and asked him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”

This statement form the Lord clearly reinforces the truth that he was living with those whom Paul was seeking to persecute. Moreover, you cannot persecute a dead man!

From being an enemy of the Lord Jesus, Paul became his servant. The Lord Jesus sent him to, and promised to rescue him from both Jews and Gentiles. To open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness from sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith only in Jesus; a living Jesus.

Several times Paul was to see a living Lord Jesus Acts 18:10; 22:18; 23:11.

When studying Acts 23 it is vitally important to note that the Lord Jesus did not appear to the sectarian Jews or the Romans. I wonder why that was. Acts 23:12 will give you a clue.

Jesus, a Lord of Divine Power.
Paul was given great spiritual powers in order to do awesome works and miracles. Paul, who knew the Lord Jesus was alive, went around doing good and playing his part in spreading Christ’s Gospel from Jerusalem to as far as Rome.

Miracles were part of the Jewish and Christian way of life, 1 Chronicles 16:12; Nehemiah 9:17; Job 5:9; Job 9:10; Psalm 77:11; Psalm 77:14; Psalm 78:12; Psalm 105:5; Psalm 106:7; Psalm 106:22; Matthew 7:22; Matthew 11:20; Matthew 11:21; Matthew 11:23; Matthew 13:58; Matthew 24:24; Mark 6:2; Mark 6:5; Mark 13:22; Luke 10:13; Luke 19:37; John 7:3; John 10:25; John 10:32; John 10:38; John 14:11; John 15:24; Acts 2:22; Acts 8:13; Acts 19:11; Romans 15:19; 1 Corinthians 12:28; 1 Corinthians 12:29; 2 Corinthians 12:12; Galatians 3:5; 2 Thessalonians 2:9; Hebrews 2:4. It was never the actual miracles performed that Jesus’ opponents complained of, it was where, when, or why he did them.

Hated Like His Lord.
As with his Lord and Saviour, Paul’s ministry was assailed with persecutions of all kinds, physical, mental, emotional and social Acts 9:29; 13:50; 14:5, 19; 16:22; 18:12; 21:36; 22:22; 23:10; 1 Cor 4:12; 2 Cor 4:9; 11:24; 2 Tim 2:9; 3:11.

The Devil and True Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ
Satan is the master of all evil and the prince of the power of the air. You will see in 1 Thes 1:1 that he was far more concerned about the movements of three humble men, Paul, Silas, and Timothy, than about the doings of Nero or Tiberius. They were three ardent disciples who could be used by the Lord Jesus Christ to shine His light into the sinful darkness of the Gentile world. These despised heralds of mercy were Satan’s most dreaded foes for they preached that Name that makes hell tremble. They declared the righteousness against which satanic hate always vents itself with its utmost power. With malicious glance the archenemy watched their daily path, and with cunning hand attempted to hinder them at all points.

BUT, God allowed them to overcome Satan and ALL who follow him.

The Lord Jesus Christ is always with His Disciple

Acts 7:54-60 New International Version – UK (NIVUK)
The stoning of Stephen

[St. Stephen, (died 36 ce, Jerusalem; feast day December 26), Christian deacon in Jerusalem and the first Christian martyr, whose apology before the Sanhedrin (Acts of the Apostles 7) points to a distinct strand of belief in early Christianity. … He lived in Jerusalem and had become a Christian.]

54 When the members of the Sanhedrin heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him. 55 But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 ‘Look,’ he said, ‘I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.’

57 At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, 58 dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul [Who was later to become an Apostle, a Witness, of Jesus.]

59 While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, ‘Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.’ 60 Then he fell on his knees and cried out, ‘Lord, do not hold this sin against them.’ When he had said this, he fell asleep.

Stephen:

  • was a true Disciple of his Lord Jesus (John 14:23)

  • spoke the truth about Jesus and those whom hated Him

  • he was full of the Holy Spirit, his killers were not

  • he was able to see spiritual things. He saw into heaven, even saw his Lord and Saviour. He even told those near him, even though he was about to be killed

  • he saw the evil anger of many as they rushed to kill him

  • he never lost his love and faith in his Lord and Saviour, but stood firm until his death

  • he knew he was chosen to help others come to know, love and obey, Jesus

  • he recognised they were doing evil out of their ignorance to the truth about God

  • he desired that Jesus would show mercy towards those who were stoning him

Those we call “Christless Christians” would not have acted as Stephen did. Why, because they would not, have not, the Holy Spirit of God (John 14:24)

So little publicity about what Jesus is doing now

Tuesday 21st August 2018 mikehill4jesus “So little publicity about what Jesus is doing now”

Where is all the publicity about the Lord Jesus Christ and what he is doing today.

When you study the Holy Bible, you see that it is all about the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit living and acting through Disciples according to the will of God. It is claimed that there are 2.2 billion Christians in the world! So why do we not see any publicity proclaiming what the Lord is doing today?

So many people are quoting the Holy Bible and Church in their promotional material. Nothing, that I have seen, about what the Lord Jesus is actually doing today.

Is He doing nothing?

My Podcast (30.03) about this Blog

THIS IS TESTIMONY REGARDING WHAT JESUS DID IN EPHESUS 2000 YEARS AGO.

Acts 19 New International Version – UK (NIVUK)

Paul in Ephesus

19 While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some disciples 2 and asked them, ‘Did you receive the Holy Spirit when [Or after] you believed?’

They answered, ‘No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.’

3 So Paul asked, ‘Then what baptism did you receive?’

‘John’s baptism,’ they replied.

4 Paul said, ‘John’s baptism was a baptism of repentance. He told the people to believe in the one coming after him, that is, in Jesus.’ 5 On hearing this, they were baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied. 7 There were about twelve men in all.

8 Paul entered the synagogue and spoke boldly there for three months, arguing persuasively about the kingdom of God. 9 But some of them became obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly maligned the Way. So Paul left them. He took the disciples with him and had discussions daily in the lecture hall of Tyrannus. 10 This went on for two years, so that all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord.

11 God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, 12 so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to those who were ill, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.

13 Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, ‘In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.’ 14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15 One day the evil spirit answered them, ‘Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?’ 16 Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.

17 When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honour. 18 Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed what they had done. 19 A number who had practised sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. 20 In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.

Mark 16:20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.

John 21:25 Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

Jesus said in John 10:37 ‘Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. 38 But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.’ Link this with what Jesus describes as a true Christian. John 14:23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. SEE, the Christian must be able to prove that Jesus and his Father lives with them.

My New mikehill4jesus Thought for Today

Monday 20th August 2018 mikehill4jesus “My New Thought for Today”

www.disciples-of-jesus.com
Witnessing for Jesus
John 14:23 Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching.
My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”
True Disciples of Jesus have both Him, and his Father, living in them today.
His loving disciples are living proof that He is alive today.
That is why they are hated so much, yet respond with love and true teaching.

The Apostle Paul was writing to a young Apostle.
1 Timothy 4:16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

In my New Daily “Thought for Today” I will be giving short motivational thoughts with relevant Internet Links for further study. Each thought will be related to the Lord Jesus and what it means to be “His Disciple”. Each “Though for Today” will be in the form of a Blog and a Podcast.

At the heart of anything truly “Christian” is the Holy Spirit of God and the loving obedience of the Disciple of Jesus. A Christian dedicated to “Life-long Learning” about the truth, not, Man’s Religion.

And the “TRUTH” comes from the Teachings of Jesus and God’s Holy Spirit using His Holy Bible.

So it’s no good me teaching you about John 14:23, if I can’t show from my learning and life, that what Jesus describes has happened to me.

I have been taught by my Lord Jesus since 1948 and used by Him since 1977. There are Links below that give you more teaching and testimony about this. Please study what I share and feel free to ask me any positive questions you may have about what I have taught.
