Sharing in Christ’s Sufferings

One of the benefits of being a Teacher is that you have to learn before you can teach. I could fill a book with all the Educational Courses I have been on.

Now just learning theory and then passing it on to others is far too easy. The great teachers also pass on their experiences of putting what they learnt into practice.

I am currently learning how to play Golf from Rob Bernard of Center of Gravity Golf. He has produced a book called Get Your Swing in Gear. In it he shares how to play golf and also why you can’t play golf. He had to learn and by sharing his problems and how he overcome them, his teaching has far more value to the learner. In other words, he shares theory with experience.

That is what I seek to do also. I seek to share the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ but with my experiences of learning and obeying them.

To be a Teacher for the Lord Jesus, you have to be one of his true Disciples. To be in that privileged position of sharing in his sufferings. His Father God wants lost souls to be saved. Sending his only Son to do that meant he was also making him suffer:

Isaiah 53:3
He was despised and rejected by mankind,
a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

Us true Disciples of the Lord have to die to ourselves in order that our Lord Jesus can live in and through us. That means we have to share in his suffering for the sake of his Gospel.

Now this is important when trying to discern if a Christian Teacher is true or false. Do they show proven testimony that they are indeed sharing in Christ’s suffering for the sake of his Gospel? Or are they just Christians sharing Bible Knowledge from their own personal comfort zone.

Now I have met Christians who live impoverished lives as they seek to live by faith. Yet they had no testimony whatsoever of how and why they were led by the Holy Spirit of God to do what they were doing.

I have even met some Christians who sent their young children to a Christian Boarding School while they went into the Missionary Field. When I questioned them about this, their response was, “God gave us our children, but now he has called us to be missionaries, we have given our children back to him.”

If God is not subject to Time and has known us from before we were conceived, then he would have known they were going to be Missionaries. So why give them children?

When I was called by God to be a Witness for my Lord Jesus, he commanded my young children to support me and their mentally ill mother. They were led into sharing in the Lord’s suffering.

1 Peter 4:13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed.

Romans 8:17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

2 Corinthians 1:5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.

The Lord Jesus promised that anyone who loved him would obey his teachings and his Father and himself would come and make their home with that person. Then that person would be fully qualified to be a Teacher for his Lord and Saviour God. How do we know that? It’s simple, they will have the Holy Spirit of God empowering their lives. Something that the False Teachers do not have.

Those Christians who do not love the Lord and so do not have him and his Father God making their home with them. They are simply Holy Bible Quoter’s, people who have knowledge without experience. Thus they teach that which they do not understand because they do not have experience of it.

May the Lord Jesus save their souls through the powerful gospel of Jesus Christ.

7th April 2015 This recording is of my “Thoughts” during the Easter of 2011 and a current “Thought” on how they are still relevant for Easter 2015. (16.04)

I have been a disciple of my Lord Jesus since the 1970's. Through my website I teach about Union with Christ as described in John 14:23.
