May your life be enriched by being in union with Christ Jesus the Lord. As you seek to study the Holy Bible, it is worth noting that there is no substitute for Spiritual Experience. We can study the Holy Bible and other Writings, but it is not the same as having the Counsel of the Holy Spirit of God.
Holy Spirit, as Counsellor
The Holy Spirit is the one who comforts, advises and strengthens Christians, drawing them closer to Jesus Christ.
The Holy Spirit is Counsellor in addition to Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is a Counsellor 1 Jn 2:1 One Greek word “Parakletos” underlies this phrase which is primarily a legal term. It can also bear the meaning “comforter”.
The Spirit is another Counsellor Jn 14:16-17 The word “another” means “another of the same kind”. After the ascension, the Spirit is to assume the ministry of Jesus Christ.
The Counsellor is the gift of the exalted Christ Jn 16:7 See also Jn 7:38-39; Ac 2:33
The Counsellor comforts and reassures believers
Jn 14:16-18; Ac 11:12 Peter is reassured about going to the house of Cornelius; Ro 8:16 Believers are reassured that they are God’s children.
The Counsellor strengthens and equips the church (The real Church of Jesus)
Eph 3:16 See also Ac 4:31 The Jerusalem church is strengthened in the face of opposition; Ac 9:31 the church in Judea, Galilee and Samaria; Ro 8:26
The Counsellor teaches and instructs believers (Those who truly love and obey the Lord Jesus)
The Spirit reminds the disciples of Jesus Christ’s teaching Jn 14:26 See also Jn 16:14; 1Jn 5:6-8
The Spirit teaches the church further truth Jn 16:13 See also 1 Co 2:9-10; 1Jn 2:27
The Counsellor helps the church in its mission
The Spirit testifies to Jesus Christ and helps the church to do likewise Jn 15:26-27 See also Ac 1:8
The Spirit convicts the unbelieving world Jn 16:8-11; 1 Co 14:24-25
Examples of the Spirit’s help in witness and mission Ac 4:8 Peter before the Sanhedrin; 1 Co 2:3-4 Paul in Corinth; 1 Th 1:5 Paul and Silas in Thessalonica
The Counsellor draws believers closer to Jesus Christ Eph 3:16-17 See also Jn 14:23; Ro 8:9-11
Christianity without the Holy Spirit is just another Religion devised by Human Beings.
True Religion is that taught by the Lord Jesus Himself.
It is loving (good-willing) obedience to the teachings of the Lord, Himself. Not the teachings of Man who can interpret the Holy Bible incorrectly.
Yes, study the Holy Bible, but with the Holy Spirits help. Then you can be sure of sound learning.
Just look at the state of Christianity today to see what happens when the Holy Spirit is absent from the learning.
Make it your first aim to seek the Holy Spirit of God.
How do you find Him?
Read John 14:23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.’
The Wise are as described in v23 and the Fools are as described in v24.
Who says so?
The Lord said, ‘These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.’
Only a Fool or a committed Follower of Satan would ignore the Lords teaching and miss having him and his father come and make their home with them.
Yet the Lord Jesus says that is exactly what many people will do. Even many of the Saved will desert him as His return approaches because of the suffering caused by the Unsaved.
My video is there to help and encourage you to be saved, or if saved, to not stop loving your Lord and Saviour.
