The Lord Jesus Christ was ask this question, quoted here by the Apostle, Matthew.
Matthew 22:36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with
all your mind.’[a]
38 This is the first and greatest commandment.
39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ [b]
[a] Matthew 22:37 Deut. 6:5
[b] Matthew 22:39 Lev. 19:18
Now this raises an important issue concerning Christianity.
Why there are many, too many, Christians all around the world saying, “If you believe in Jesus that he died for your sins, that is your disobedience of God’s Laws, you wont be punished for the sins you do after your salvation.”
They are saying that if you believe in Jesus then you don’t have to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and you don’t have to Love your neighbour as yourself.
Now if that is not teaching from the Devil, then I don’t know what is.
Now the Holy Bible clearly states that although he loved us enough to sacrifice his only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, that we may have a means to escape Hell. That did not mean that he, the Father, removed our need to obey his commands.
If God loved us enough to offer us salvation, then why should we not love him back by being obedient to his Laws?
Was the Lord Jesus wrong to say in John 14:23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey
my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my
own; they belong to the Father who sent me.’
This is what the devil is trying to teach you: Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will no longer have to obey my teachings/commands. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them even though they are wicked and evil. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching but that does not matter for they are still saved. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.’
If you study these words of the Lord and the distorted teaching from the devil’s followers which you can find by searching Gods’ unconditional love using Google Search. You will see that in many cases the two teachings, the Lords and the Devils, do not match up at all.
How many Christians who believe obedience to Jesus does not matter are those amongst the many that when dead go before the Lord Jesus for judgement – as we all have to and be judged for the good and bad that we do. This is what the Apostle Paul taught in 2 Corinthians 5:10 ‘For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due to us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.’
Why would we have to go before the Lord to be judged if we didn’t have to obey his commands?
And will when judges react as described by the Lord Jesus in Matthew 7:21 ‘Not everyone who says to me, “Lord, Lord,” will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, “Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?” 23 Then I will tell them plainly, “I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!”
Who are true and false disciples?
Clearly the true disciples are those whom the Lord knows for he lives with them because they are the obedient disciples as described in John 14:23.
The false disciples are those who the Lord does not know for he does not live with them as described in John 14:24. Who says so, God the father does and you had better believe it before it is too late for you to be saved!
God’s love is unconditional and offered freely, but salvation is not unconditional and the Devil wants you to believe it is.
Check them out for your eternal salvation is at stake.
