Jesus promises us this special promise in John 14:23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.’ (UK NIV Bible)
However, nobody should be under any illusion, that it is a very hard thing to do. Let us take this teaching as an example. It is in Luke 14:26 ‘If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters – yes, even their own life – such a person cannot be my disciple.’ (UK NIV Bible)
For most of my 71 years I have chased people that I loved. Many of them had once loved me, but very soon, they stopped loving me.
Eventually, I resisted people’s love simply because I did not want anymore rejection.
Then I realised I was wrong to do that and restarted opening myself up to them.
Unhappily, the rejection continued, for no other reason than my love for my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and my refusal to put them before Him in my life.
I have had to face many trials in my life, and in every one, I was made to face them alone except for the companionship of my Heavenly Father and his Son, my Lord Jesus. The Holy Spirit of God, without exception, empowered me to survive, though at times it was touch and go due to my human frailty.
By putting them first, I came to know that my Lord’s promise in John 16:33 ‘I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.’ (UK NIV Bible) was indeed true.
To finish, I would like everyone who reads this to know. I will never put you before my Lord Jesus Christ. If I do love you in a practical or spiritual way, it is because my Lord, through the Holy Spirit of God, wants me to do it.
May God bless you in the Powerful Name of his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
It should be the aim of every Human Being on this Planet to enter Heaven. Alas the Lord Jesus makes it clear that many will not lovingly obey his teachings, his commands, but stubbornly follow the temptations of the Devil. Some will even desert their Lord and Saviour because of the evil they face in this world. It is sad and I know it breaks my Lord’s heart as much as his Fathers and Mine.
However, as with the Angels described in Luke 15:10 ‘In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.’ (UK NIV Bible) So it will be with us who suffer 24/7 that you may know the truth about the Devil and his evil schemes to fool you into following his ways.
My prayer for you is that you will be one of those who repents of their sins against the Lord Jesus Christ. The wickedness that is disobeying his teachings, his commands. No matter who you are, or how you describe yourself. If you are not right with the Lord Jesus, and only he knows if you are not, you will be denied entrance into Heaven and all its rewards that are everlasting.
