Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
On my Just Like Jesus webpage I teach about how a true follower of the Lord Jesus is taught by him to be like him.
We who are saved must, according to Moral Law, be like our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, John 14:23. It is only the Christians as described in John 14:24 who say we don’t.
Neither the Lord Jesus or his Father are allowed to break Moral Law. So why would they allow us to do it without punishment.
Nowhere will you find the Lord Jesus teaching that His Disciples can freely sin without fear of punishment.
Yet I often hear and see Christian teaching that says we who are saved can sin without fear of punishment because God punishes his Son, Jesus, whenever we do.
The Lord teaches:
The Fulfilment of the Law Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.
Divine Standard Matthew 5:48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
It is our love for the Lord Jesus that causes us to be obedient to his teachings.
It is the Holy Spirit of God that urges us through God’s love to be obedient to his teachings.
It is in the new Birth when the Lord Jesus and his Father came and make their home with the loving Disciple.
The Apostle Paul taught in 2 Corinthians 5:10 ‘For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due to us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.’
When you are being taught by a Christian that you will not be punished for the sinning that you do after you have been saved by Jesus, beware of that person. For the Devil is speaking through that person.
Last but not least! Why does the Lord Jesus Christ give us commands if we are not supposed to face the consequences if we disobey them?
Here is where you can see examples of what the Lord’s response is to wickedness in a Believers life.
Revelation chapters 1, 2 and 3. Amongst other things, the Lord said, “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.”
It is in every Believers best interest that they do!
