Not all Christians pass on the teachings of the Lord Jesus
Christians have very different views about being saved from hell
The Gospel of Jesus is not a Magic Remedy
No, not at all. It’s about God offering people a chance of salvation without removing the need for Public Justice.
Why do we have to obey the Lord Jesus Christ?
So many Christians say, “We wont get punished because God punishes Jesus, not us!” [See Antinomians]
Why then does the Lord Jesus give us commands to obey, if we don’t have to obey them?
What is the point of Him saying that our obedience is a sign of our love towards Him, and our disobedience is a sign that we don’t love him?
God is not an idiot, in that he gives us commands that we don’t have to, or can’t, obey.
The “Ten Commandments” as Stated in the New Testament
Matthew 19:17 ‘Why do you ask me about what is good?’ Jesus replied. ‘There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.’
18 ‘Which ones?’ he enquired.
Jesus replied, ‘“You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honour your father and mother,” [Exodus 20:12-16; Deut. 5:16-20] and “love your neighbour as yourself.” [Lev. 19:18]’
Mark 10:19 You know the commandments: “You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honour your father and mother.” [Exodus 20:12-16; Deut. 5:16-20]’
Luke 18:20 You know the commandments: “You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honour your father and mother.” [Exodus 20:12-16; Deut. 5:16-20]’
Romans 13:9 The commandments, ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not covet,’ [Exodus 20:13-15,17; Deut. 5:17-19,21] and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ [Lev. 19:18] 10 Love does no harm to a neighbour. Therefore love is the fulfilment of the law.
Of course, a newly Converted Sinner, born-again of the Holy Spirit of God, has much to learn and it takes time to die to self. However, obedience is their aim at all times. A Disciple of Jesus is a learner of His teachings and commands. Learning what they have to obey.
Dying to Selfishness
Galatians 2:19 ‘For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!’
To enter heaven, a Christian has to live for God, not for themselves. When Jesus died on the cross, so did the Christian, thus having Jesus living in them. Why then would the Lord Jesus want them to carry on sinning?
The Christian is saved by God’s grace, in order that through the Holy Spirit, they might live obediently with God the Father and God the Son – the Lord Jesus Christ.
See John 14:23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. [a right Christian] 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. [a wrong Christian] 9 These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.’
Christians’ who do not obey the Lord and Saviour, are not saved.
His (Jesus) Gospel simply put is:
(a) Jesus Christ’s (God’s) true message to the world; the good news that Christ was crucified for our sins, was buried, rose again, and was seen among men; (b) a specifically true statement. Revelation 1:18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. (NIV bible)
John 3:13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven–the Son of Man. 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. 16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.” (NIV bible)
The Lord Jesus wants to help!
Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (NIV bible)
