mikehill4jesus “How to be sure you are in the Body of Christ”
26th July 2016 (9.47) My .mp3 Thought for Today Audio
The life of a member of the Body of Christ has 3 stages:
- Life up to the point of Salvation – A committed hater of God controlled by the Devil and your selfishness
- At the point of Salvation – Realising that the Gospel of Jesus is your only hope of escaping from the Devil and Hell and entering Heaven
- Life after Salvation – Born-again of the Spirit of God and reconciled with God. Being sanctified by the Holy Spirit
Sanctification is separation to the service of God.
Psalms 4:3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him.
2 Corinthians 6:17 “Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”
“”The enemy of sanctification is your Flesh that fights against the Holy Spirit!””
The “I am in the Body of Christ” Test
Here the Lord Jesus describes what you have to do. John 14:23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. You can’t pretend that you are a member of the Body of Christ, it has to be true! The decision is that of the Father who sees you loving his only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. If he sees you as this. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. Then you are not allowed to be a member.
The problem of misidentification
We all have a problem identifying people. The Apostle Paul said that we should be slow to trust people. One BIG problem in the Christian World is identifying who are members of the Body of Christ and who is not. Getting this wrong can be costly!
The Lord Jesus predicts his death
Matthew 16:21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. 22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. ‘Never, Lord!’ he said. ‘This shall never happen to you!’ 23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, ‘Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling-block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.’
Here was the Lord Jesus doing the will of his Father and Peter, though acting out of love, was trying to stop him from doing that. The Lord Jesus was allowing the SPIRIT to control him, while Peter was allowing the FLESH, and was accused of being a stumbling-block. By-the-way, Peter became a great Apostle in the Body of Christ. 🙂
How do we identify a person who is in the Body of Christ?
They are baptised with the Holy Spirit and he is dwelling in them. [NOT in false Christians!]
John 14:17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
1 Corinthians 14:25 and the secrets of his heart will be laid bare. So he will fall down and worship God, exclaiming, “God is really among you!”
1 Corinthians 3:16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?
1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
Here is a list of attributes describing the Character of a true “DISCIPLE” Person
A lover of the Lord Jesus Christ who is truly born-again of the Spirit of God and has the Lord Jesus and his Father making their home with them. Please note! We can all get it wrong at times, just as Peter did.
This born-again member of Christ’s Body is:

IS THIS YOU?
WELL, I AM HERE TO HELP YOU.
I know in my heart that many Professing Christians will not submit to the will and teaching of the Holy Spirit. But with His strength and guidance, I will do all that God has called me to do in order to save obstinate members of the Body of Christ and help those outside of the Body. For that is what the Holy Spirit wants me to do at pain of my own punishment should I refuse to do it. I have been struggling to do it for 39 years and to my joy and utter relief, the Spirit is still with me.
