Facing the Wrath of God

Professing Christians who do not love and obey the Lord Jesus Christ need to know and understand what this means.

God’s wrath against sinful humanity
Romans 1:18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.

24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator – who is for ever praised. Amen.

26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worth while to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practise them.

That is why the Gospel of Jesus is indispensable in saving such people.

His (Jesus) Gospel simply put is:
(a) Jesus Christ’s (God’s) true message to the world; the good news that Christ was crucified for our sins, was buried, rose again, and was seen among men; (b) a specifically true statement.
Revelation 1:18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. (NIV bible)

John 3:13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven–the Son of Man. 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life. 16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.” (NIV bible)

The Lord Jesus wants to help!

Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (NIV bible)

Why are these 2 verses so important
John 14:23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.’

To me the answer is simple.

Verse 23. If you love the Lord Jesus, then you will be obeying Him. How, Mike? Well, you will have been learning the Gospel of Jesus and allowing the Holy Spirit to convict you of your evildoing. Your hatred of God! Then you would have obeyed the Gospel and been saved. How could you not love your Lord Jesus when you know that you have been saved? His Father sees that you truly love His Son, Jesus, and they both come and make their home with you. You then receive the Holy Spirit into your person, not just being an influence on you. You become a member of God’s Family. A member of Christ’s spiritual Body. His Bond-Servant, knowing that He owns you and has first claim on your time. You receive Spiritual Gifts and do the work of Christ in that you go out into the world to make new Disciples of Him. You do not do it alone, you do it in the company of your Lord Jesus, His Father and all the other members of Christ’s Body here on Earth. You become a Soldier for Christ in the Spiritual Warfare!

Verse 24. If you DON’T love the Lord Jesus, then you will NOT obey him. How, Mike? Well, look at the evil in the world. Look at the evil in the Christian Church. What do you see? Well, if nothing, not even the meaning of these 2 verses, then your are spiritually blind, living your life in darkness!

Is Verse 24 true of Christianity?
Well, Christianity is just a Title given to Followers of Jesus by some Roman. Being a Christian is simply being a member of a Religious Denomination or Faith Group. It has nothing to do with Verse 23, though it’s possible for a true Lover of the Lord Jesus to be a member of a Christian Church in order to be a Witness for Him to the Lost Souls who call themselves, Christian.

One BIG problem those ‘Bible Believing’ Christians in Verse 24 have. Is that their belief in the Bible is not strong enough to believe in what the Lord Jesus Christ can and does do. They have NO SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE that is real. THE TRUTH FRIGHTENS THEM AND THEY REACT NEGATIVELY TO THE SPEAKER OF TRUTH.

They also STOP members of their Church from receiving the truth of salvation through the Gospel of Jesus. They preach so as to convert nobody but to promote themselves and their Church. They need the Congregations to massage their Christian Egos and importantly to finance their version of Christianity.

The Gospel of Jesus that many Christian Leaders need to use.

Good Preaching so as to win Souls
