The Devil stops unconverted Christians from seeing the truth in these two verses
John 14:23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.’
I have spent 39 years witnessing for Jesus, 31 of which have been in Birmingham, England.
Matthew 5:13 ‘You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 ‘You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
The Apostle Paul wrote about this problem – Present Weakness and Resurrection Life
In my last Blog, I wrote about this blinding of the unbelievers, even Christian unbelievers. It was in 2 Corinthians 4:1-18 These verses spoke about how members of the Body of Christ, who despite great opposition and perfect spiritual darkness/blindness, still continue in the work of making Disciples, STUDENTS, of the Lord Jesus.
Jesus has risen from the dead after being killed by crucifixion
Matthew 28:1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
5 The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: “He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.” Now I have told you.’
8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. ‘Greetings,’ he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshipped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.’
The guards’ report
11 While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. 12 When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, 13 telling them, ‘You are to say, “His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.” 14 If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.’ 15 So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.
The great commission
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshipped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’
This week I had 3 very rare responses to my Witnessing for the Lord Jesus
A brief account can be read here
After 39 years of Witnessing, here was strong encouragement. The world is in violent decay with horrendous violence, corruption and human folly which is escalating. Man’s religion is being seen to for what it is, a belief in things they cannot prove are true. They only have the lies of the Devil that keep them blind and the salt and light of those members of the Body of Christ.
Those in John 14:23 need to remember whom He is and whom They are. To continue to do what He teaches and commands, that they may receive those tremendous things that He offers them. And not stop doing them and thus be punished like those in John 14:24.
Those in John 14:24 need to learn whom He is and whom They are. To stop showing their hatred for Him and their lying that defames Him as also being a Liar, that they will avoid the terrifying things that He will do to them if they don’t become like those in John 14:23.
The narrow and wide gates
Matthew 7:13 ‘Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.’
It is the Devil that causes them to believe that a person can have one foot on the Broad Road and one foot on the Narrow Road. But then he always tells lies for he can do nothing else as there is not TRUTH in him.
THE WARNINGS TO BOTH GROUPS ARE CLEAR – BEST WE START TAKING THEM SERIOUSLY
The Gospel of Jesus that many Christian Leaders need to use.
The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit without which we are just playing at Christianity.
