Union with Christ – the Lord Jesus Christ
There are several definitions of the word union. For the purpose of this teaching it will mean the condition of being united, the act of uniting, or a conjunction formed by such an act. To be in union is to be in oneness.
To be in union with Christ has to mean to be one with Christ.
To be in union with Christ, is to be useful to God, able to speak out a testimony of Spiritual power and wonder in the using of the gifts given to you through your union that the will of God may be done wherever you are.
The reward of true Christians who willingly serve their Lord, no matter the cost, is not only in this life, but also in the next! Colossians 3:24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
May you through these teachings come into a deepening faith in the living Lord Jesus Christ, that your union with Him is rewarded. Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
It’s clear that not all, some might say any, Christians, are “Dead to Sin”. Why do I say that? Well, how many Christians have shown to you that they are as described by the Lord Jesus in John 14:23 or John 14:24?
John 14:23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.’
You cannot be living in union with the Lord Jesus Christ and be an evildoer. Yes, you can still sin! But the response to your sin is to throw yourself at the feet of your LORD and beg forgiveness. It is NOT to use the Holy Bible to fabricate all sorts of excuses for your behaviour.
Selfish and Unselfish Christians
Jesus sends out the seventy-two
Luke 10:1 After this the Lord appointed seventy-two [Some manuscripts seventy; also in verse 17] others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. 2 He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. 3 Go! I am sending you out like lambs among wolves. 4 Do not take a purse or bag or sandals; and do not greet anyone on the road. (JESUS COMMANDS THEM)
5 ‘When you enter a house, first say, “Peace to this house.” 6 If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you. 7 Stay there, eating and drinking whatever they give you, for the worker deserves his wages. Do not move around from house to house. (STRICT INSTRUCTIONS)
8 ‘When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is offered to you. 9 Heal those there who are ill and tell them, “The kingdom of God has come near to you.” 10 But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, 11 “Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: the kingdom of God has come near.” 12 I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that town.
13 ‘Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. 14 But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. 15 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades. [That is, the realm of the dead] (PUNISHMENT!)
16 ‘Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.’
17 The seventy-two returned with joy and said, ‘Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.’ (TESTIMONY!)
18 He replied, ‘I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. 19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. 20 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.’ (SPIRITUAL AUTHORITY COMES FROM THE LORD JESUS, NOT DENOMINATIONAL CHURCH LEADERS!)
21 At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, ‘I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
22 ‘All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.’ (CHRISTIAN, DO YOU TRULY KNOW THE FATHER?)
23 Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, ‘Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.
A Disciple is a Student. If you are not obeying the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, it’s because you are NOT His Loving Disciple!
