True Christian Testimony: To the Cross – At the Cross – After the Cross. In other words, how did John 14:23 happen to you?
John 14:23 is the only proof that a Professing Christian has been baptised by Jesus with the Holy Spirit of God
John 14:23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.
John 14:24 describes a Professing Christian who has NOT been baptised by Jesus with the Holy Spirit of God
24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching.
It is the Father of the Lord Jesus who says this
These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.’
THE SON OF GOD WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY PROFESSING CHRISTIAN HE DOES NOT KNOW!
The Lord Jesus gives everyone who is truly a Christian – see John 14:23 – a command that must be obeyed.
Matthew 28:17 When they saw him [Jesus], they worshipped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 ‘Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’
This raises one of many problems in what is commonly called, Christianity. Before you can make Disciples of the Lord Jesus, you first have to be a Disciple of the Lord Jesus. Clearly, unless the Devil has blinded you, Professing Christians as described by Jesus in John 14:24, are not His true Disciples. Hence you see the evildoing that is carried out by them and why they fail to make true Disciples of Jesus – only false Disciples like themselves.
How can you tell if a Professing Christian is true?
Well, they will show proven testimony of their being as described in John 14:23 – They will publish a Testimony!
You will have read that my becoming a true Christian was not a straightforward thing.
Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyon reflects some of the problems
Pilgrim’s Progress is a great work of Christian literature. Originally composed in the 17th century, this spiritual allegory has entertained and delighted innumerous readers for over 300 years. Part I tells of “Christian” and his journey to “Celestial City;” Part II tells of the journey of Christian’s wife Christiana and their children to Celestial City. The two parts work together as a unified whole, which describes and depicts the believer’s life and struggles. Indeed, given the easy style of the book, readers of all ages can understand the spiritual significance of the depictions in the story. However, Pilgrim’s Progress does not simply instruct readers with spiritual allegories; it entertains them as well, through Bunyan’s creative story telling. Enjoyable and spiritually instructive, Pilgrim’s Progress is highly recommended.
Here is a Television Program of The Pilgrim’s Progress
It’s an allegory of a Christian’s journey (here represented by a character called ‘Christian’) from the “City of Destruction” to the “Celestial City”. Along the way he visits such locations as the Slough of Despond, Vanity Fair, the Doubting Castle, and the Valley of the Shadow of Death. Bunyan, the author, had very little formal education and a humble background. Nonetheless Pilgrim’s Progress is considered one of the masterpieces of English literature, and is required reading for Christians who are on the spiritual path in a world of temptations.
The One Great Problem Facing Humans?
The Lord Jesus will not give entry to those He does not know! It’s about knowing as part of a loving relationship, not just knowledge of Him in the Bible.
My Video about the problem with Biblical Interpretation being given more importance than the New Birth given by God through His Holy Spirit.
My Video about the problem with Influences on the Person, saved or lost. Influences that affect our lives and our behaviour.
The True Christian has the Holy Spirit of God
Jesus promises the Holy Spirit
John 14:15 ‘If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you for ever – 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be [Some early manuscripts and is] in you. 18 I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. 19 Before long, the world will not see me any more, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. 20 On that day you will realise that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. 21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.’
22 Then Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, ‘But, Lord, why do you intend to show yourself to us and not to the world?’
23 Jesus replied, ‘Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. 24 Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
25 ‘All this I have spoken while still with you. 26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
You can fool yourself and other people, BUT, you cannot fool God! If you think you can, then the only place you will enter is Hell. Here His words of perfect truth, for the Lord Jesus never lies.
Revelation 1:18 ‘I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.’
NOW IS THE TIME TO EXAMINE YOURSELF AND MAKE SURE YOU TRULY LOVE HIM
JOHN 14:23 NOT JOHN 14:24
